 Books are spiffy.

Sun filtered in through the uniform blinds of the library, falling on one lone bookworm. Decland P. Vale, clad in tight, patched stone-washed jeans, a bulky bullet belt, and a band tee that had been thrown on at random, was carefully searching through the many bookshelves of the school library for an interesting read. There was mystery, romance, and science fiction abound, but nothing caught Decland's eye. Of course, it's hard for someone to find something when one does not know what one wants. This particular nerd was the perfect example.

Hmm...some of Arthur's works, maybe?.....no. Not up for another Holmes mystery. Maybe some E.A.P? Eh, I'll pass on the horror. Hmm...a George R. R. Martin..

Plucking the book from its place on the shelf, Decland found it to be a book he had left unfinished. The teen had picked up the book, reading a chapter or two, and for some reason had to put it down. Said reason eluded him, but that really wasn't important. Decland had found his literature, and happily made his way to the usual table. It was a wooden structure far from the windows and even farther still from the door. His secluded little spot at the back.

Picking out a seat that allowed him a view of the full library, Decland propped his feet up on the familiar table, his black and white checkered Vans on display. Some said they looked nerdy, but he could care less. Decland had coined it jealousy, and a never allowed it a second thought. Placing the book on the table with care, the teen placed his hands behind his head, surveying the room before him. The librarian had stepped out. What luck.

A library to myself? A nerd's dream!

Grabbing the book up with a laugh, Decland immersed himself in the novel, the adventures of Abner Marsh and his vampiric new friend filling his mind. Having forgotten what page he had stopped at, the teen was forced to start anew. No problem really. At about page ten, Decland's concentration was broken. Looking up from the pages with a look of both annoyance and curiosity, he wondered who would disrupt his private reading.
